"In mid July, I spotted a female black swallow tail butterfly dancing around my pot of fennel and dill. When she left I went out and saw a couple of dozen tiny yellowish eggs. They have hatched and are now huge caterpillars. At one count I had over 15. They are leaving the fennel and dill to seek a place to weave their chrysalis. What a marvelous site. Did you know that the state of Michigan would like to make the black swallow tail the state insect?"
And here is one of my 14 caterpillars about two weeks later!
